After several years without a local grocery store the Village of Deerfield is exploring the possibility of a grocery co-op. As Deerfield sophomore pitcher Cole Erickson walked out to the mound for the seventh inning during Thursday’s game against the Johnson Creek baseball team, the Bluejay hitters began to lick their chops.
Despite trailing 8-7, the Bluejays had roughed up Erickson already for nine hits in the game and knew he was tiring given a high pitch count.
Although Erickson got the first two out of the inning, the Bluejays were able to walk twices in a row, and a wild pitch sent the runners to second and third. But Erickson locked down on junior Tyler Joseph, striking him out on a 3-2 pitch to end the game. Friday, May 18, 2012

Since junior forward Jessy Steen suffered a concussion against Poynette/Portage April 26, something has been just a little off with the offensive attack of the Cambridge-Deerfield cooperative girls’ soccer team.
